why are people consistently reaffirming my lack of belief in friendship?

i do understand that above and beyond all, marriage is between the man and woman. but i also believe that integral to the institution and relationship is the support the couple gets from surrounding loved ones. if your marriage is a plant, your love is the roots, and your commitment is the soil....your friends have to at least be the sun or the water or oxygen....nothing and no one and especially no relationships....exist in a vacuum.

dave and i could never have survived as long as we have, had it not been for the people around us. and whether or not i end up with him....my marriage and the celebration of it is going to feature everyone i love as a major MAJOR centerpiece. i always thought a wedding was more to share your commitment and love with all the ones who have helped nurture the relationship and make it possible rather than just seal the deal and make it YOUR day. maybe that's just me....

bitter? yes. but besides the point, i would never get married at city hall and tell my best friend about it ex-post facto via GCHAT! my david deserves better!
